Back in the game
Remember the rabid plot bunnies from last weekend? Still haven't dealt with them yet. However, I did manage to finally write a Sonomi/Fujitaka fic that I've been meaning to write since, oh, the middle of July. It's cute, it's romantic, there's no angst (yes, Lindy, I can write things that aren't angsty), and it makes me wish I wasn't forced to leave my CCS discs at home. The main inspiration stems from the last scene of the recent half-season finale of Psych, as does the title.

Title: Close Talking
Author: [livejournal.com profile] aoife_hime
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura (Sonomi/Fujitaka)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1650
Summary: Sonomi finds it quite irritating when she can't hear the conversation, so she gets a little closer.

Title: Fighting Grace
Author: [livejournal.com profile] aoife_hime
Fandom: Stargate SG-1 (Sam/Jack)
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 4390
Summary: Sam is kidnapped by Ba'al, but it's not torture as usual. Set Season 8, prior to Affinity.
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] sjhw_tolerance for [livejournal.com profile] sjficathon. Based off the prompt, 'Sam is kidnapped by Ba'al for some nefarious reason and it is up to Jack to save her'. I took the prompt in a slightly different direction, and it... it kinda turned into a bit of a monster. But a fun monster, as I really enjoyed writing it! So thank you, Sue, for the wonderful prompt - I've always wanted to write something with Ba'al in it, but I've never had any good ideas!

The muse lives
Ah yes, another fic... it's only been nearly three months since the last one. In my defense, this one turned out to be a bit of a monster; it just kept growing and growing and growing.

Title: Chess
Author: [livejournal.com profile] aoife_hime
Fandom: Stargate SG-1 (Sam/Jack)
Rating: PG
Summary: Jack is good at chess. It's life that he has a little trouble with sometimes. Set during Season 5 sometime.
Notes: Based on a quote from Dirty Pretty Things (good movie, go see it if you haven't) said by the character Guo Yi: "You know, Okwe, good at chess usually means bad at life". I thought that it fit Jack pretty well ^_^

I blame the music
Apparently, when I'm in a really good mood I have great capacity for sadness. I blame e.e. cummings and Frou Frou, for the record.

There's more?!
Well, obviously I'm making great strides in overcoming my bout of writer's block. This time it's in the form of drabbles. SG-1, of course ^^;; But seriously, this challenge was right up my alley; I'm a big fan of basing fics on quotes, lines from songs, etc. How could I pass this up? That's right, I couldn't.

Title: Diplomacy Matters
Author: [livejournal.com profile] aoife_hime
Rating: PG/PG-13, as the subject matter is a little dark
Challenge: One sentence from page 154
Summary: Diplomacy was never Jack's strong suit. Sam/Jack UST
Notes: A series of five drabbles chronicling one mission gone awry. Set sometime in Season 6.

Breaking the slump
There's much to do and not much time to do it. But at least, despite the applications that need to be filled out, essays that need to be written, and the problem sets that need to be finished, I know that I have beaten this round of writer's block. Not completely, but at least sort of. Personal note: if ever a story could be personified, this one could and it would take on the persona of a bratty 7-year old girl! I'm not joking.

Title: None Could Sleep
Author: [livejournal.com profile] aoife_hime
Fandom: Stargate SG-1 (Sam/Jack UST)
Rating: PG
Summary: Sometimes, sleep is impossible. Set first half of Season 1, post-Cold Lazarus. Inspired by the lyrics "Until it got so warm/That none of us could sleep" from Regina Spektor's song, "On the Radio".

it just hit me... quite hard, i might add
there are a few things i should be working on (that original story, chemistry, studying for my theory final... wait, i did that last one), but this idea hit me pretty hard and out of the blue last week. don't ask me how i found time to sit down and finish it, because even i'm not quite sure. so... enjoy!

sequels
Alright, Haylie. I'm blaming this on you (mostly). Seriously, if you hadn't kept bugging me about Daniel in a flag...

It took me longer than I'd anticipated, and it turned out to be A LOT lengthier than I'd anticipated, but I finished it. Here is the sequel to my story I wrote over a month ago, entitled "Amends". This installment picks up right at the end of "Amends", so reading that will make just about everything in this story infitely less confusing. Just a friendly neighborhood warning...

Title: Alteration Finds
Rating: PG I suppose... there's very mild swearing in one or two places and a teeny tiny bit of innuendo but nothing blatantly obvious or explicit. (Sam/Jack, team)
Summary: After the events in "Amends" unfold, Sam and Mark have a few things they need to work out. But a reconciliation trip just wouldn't be perfect without the rest of SG-1 tagging along.
Notes: As I said, this is Haylie's fault. Also, any errors noticed here are mine and mine alone and I sincerely apologize right now for them. Stargate SG-1 isn't mine, yet no copyright infringments were meant. And Pete is still teh evil.

wenchy!
pirates tonight! midnight, ultrascreen, complete with cosplay!!! you know, at this point i really don't care if the movie sucks terribly. i'm just excited to dress up like a pirate and hang out with other people dressed up like pirates (or wenches as the case may be ^_~).

in fanfic news, i have finally gotten around to writing a "threads" fic for sg-1, something that i've been dying to do for months. it turned out kind of long, and the idea of a follow up chapter is niggling at the back of my brain... but the point here is that i actually wrote it! so here it is, the "threads" story that survived past two paragraphs.

Title: Amends
Rating: PG, Romance/Angst (Sam/Jack)
Warnings: Umm... "Threads". If you haven't seen that ep, you probably won't understand some plot points in here. If you hate spoilers, don't read it! And there's fluff, too... just in case you're somehow against the occasional fluff.
Additional Notes: I hate Pete Shanahan. Let me make that perfectly clear right now. I cannot, however, write anything related to Pete making him seem like a complete villain because that would just be one-dimensional and pathetic on my part.

randomness
my parents are in new jersey for a wedding tomorrow. this means that my brother and i have the house to ourselves for two days. *cheers*

to celebrate the fact that i'm off of work to go on 24-hour babysitting duty, i took my brother to barnes & noble and we spent waaaaaaaaay too much time in the music section. after drooling over the 8 box sets of stargate sg-1, i ended up getting two cds. one is the music from "children of the gods" (sg-1's pilot ep) and the other is a collection of songs by various bands that were featured on buffy the vampire slayer. both are wonderful and have gone a little ways to soothe my addiction for new music.

on a completely different note, last night a little plot bunny attacked with a ferocity only equaled in monty python. it quite literally wouldn't let me get to sleep until it was finished. i almost fell asleep at the keyboard a few times. thank you, [livejournal.com profile] chasingkerouac for getting the idea of a quote-based fic in my head. so here it is, more sam/jack fluffy insanity. enjoy!

Title: Of Studying and Pants
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: None
Timeline: In my mind it takes place around Season 4 or 5
Teaser: Based on a quote from Albert Einstein (included at the end of the story). Sam/Jack.
Note: x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] sam_and_jack

i found this fic on my laptop this afternoon as i was cleaning out my files. it was only half-finished, so i decided to finish it. this really isn't the most appropriate time to post it, since i was most definitely in christmas mode when i started writing it, but i finished it and am posting it anyways. this is meant to provide momentary distraction from the pain and suffering that is college finals (or high school ap exams if you like), as requested by cal_reflector. granted, it's not soul-food and it's definitely not shippy. i'm not even sure if it passes as humorous (which was of course my intention when i thought up the idea), but it's written and here it is. please enjoy. if you find any errors, please tell me so i can fix them, as i haven't sent this off to be beta'ed (i know, irresponsible). thanks!
